A 1.4-kilogram, male infant was born at 27 weeks gestation at an outside hospital. After birth, the patient's trachea was intubated and surfactant administered. Initial echocardiogram showed a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and a ventricular septal defect (VSD), with a possible aberrant vessel arising from the carotid artery. The patient was transferred to our hospital for ...

2010-11-01

A rare morphology of an aberrant innominate artery (IA) is reported here, together with additional arterial variation encountered in the respective specimen. The IA originated in the aortic arch on the left side of the trachea, coursed on that side of the trachea to reach the left thyroid lobe, turned in at a right angle to pass ...

We investigated repetitive and stereotyped behavior (RSB) and its relationship to morphometric measures of the basal ganglia and thalami in 3- to 4-year-old children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD; n = 77) and developmental delay without autism (DD; n = 34). Children were assessed through clinical evaluation and parent report using RSB-specific scales extracted from the Autism Diagnostic ...

Schizotypal Perceptual Aberrations of Time: Correlation between Score, Behavior and Brain Activity
2011-01-18

A fundamental trait of the human self is its continuum experience of space and time. Perceptual aberrations of this spatial and temporal continuity is a major characteristic of schizophrenia spectrum disturbances including schizophrenia, schizotypal personality disorder and schizotypy. We have previously found the classical Perceptual Aberration Scale ...

A 59-year-old female having the disrupted brachiocephalic artery (BCA) and multiple bone fractures caused by a traffic accident was transferred to our hospital in a hypovolemic shock status with a wide mediastinum on the chest radiograph. Intraarterial digital subtraction angiography was effective in confirming the bleeding site of the artery. The patient underwent an urgent ...

We report a patient in whom we used a puncture needle to initiate percutaneous recanalization of a chronic occlusion of the junction between the right subclavian vein and the right brachiocephalic vein. Under fluoroscopic guidance, an 18-gauge needle was used to puncture the right subclavian vein. When contrast material injected through the needle confirmed intravascular ...

Rupture and Migration of an Endovascular Stent in the Brachiocephalic Trunk Causing a Vertebral Steal Syndrome
2008-07-15

Delayed stent fracture has been observed in many different arteries and may represent a risk factor for restenosis. We describe the case of a delayed rupture of an endovascular brachiocephalic trunk stent. The complete fracture allowed a fragment to migrate distally and tilt, resulting in a hemodynamic pattern similar to that of a prevertebral stenosis with complete inversion ...

In almost all cases liver ultrasonography is sufficient for identifying such vascular abnormalities. It shows a large ...

One distinct subcategory of WCTs are those that present with ...
