    The emission of volatile organic compounds, from plants has strong revelance for plant physiology, plant ecology and atmospheric chemistry. Camphene (C10H16) is a bicyclic monoterpene which is emitted in the atmosphere by biogenic sources. The structure of the unique stable conformer was optimized using density functional theory and ab initio calculations. The rotational spectrum of camphene was recorded in a supersonic jet expansion with a Fourier transform microwave spectrometer over the range 2-20 GHz. Signals from the parent species and from the ten 13C isotopomers were observed in natural abundance. The rotational and centrifugal distortion parameters were fitted to a Watson's Hamiltonian in the A-reduction. A magnetic hyperfine structure associated with the pairs of hydrogen nuclei in the methylene groups was observed and modeled.The rotational constants coupled to the equilibrium structure calculations were used to determine the r_0 and the r_m(1) gas-phase geometries of the carbon skeleton. The present work provides the first spectroscopic characterization of camphene in the gas phase and these results are also relevant for ozonolysis kinetics study through Criegee intermediates. R.   7. The 2005 October 5 outburst of October Camelopardalids

    Jarmo Moilanen (Finland) detected twelve meteors from a compact geocentric radiant at RA = 164.1 deg +- 2.0 deg, Dec. = +78.9 deg +-0.5 deg$, on the border of Draco and Camelopardalis, in the evening of 2005 October 5. The differential mass distribution index was a low s = 1.4+-0.2 (+0 to -6 magnitude). The new shower was confirmed by Esko Lyytinen (2 meteors, early period only, located at 25.00 deg E, +60.25 deg N) and Ilkka Yrjoelae (4 meteors: 26.4 deg E, +60.9 deg N) at nearby locations, and by Sirko Molau in Germany (7 meteors). Esko Lyytinen calculated an apparent speed of V_{g} = 47.3+-0.5 km/s from one two-station meteor, close to the parabolic limit.     meeting with the name `Symmetries and Integrability of Discrete Equations (SIDE)' was held in Estérel, Québec, Canada. This was organized by D Levi, P Winternitz and L Vinet. After the success of the first meeting the scientific community decided to hold bi-annual SIDE meetings. They were held in 1996 at the University of Kent (UK), 1998 in Sabaudia (Italy), 2000 at the University of Tokyo (Japan), 2002 in Giens (France), 2004 in Helsinki (Finland) and in 2006 at the University of Melbourne (Australia). In 2008 the SIDE 8 meeting was again organized near Montreal, in Ste-Adèle, Québec, Canada. The SIDE 8 International Advisory Committee (also the SIDE steering committee) consisted of Frank Nijhoff, Alexander Bobenko, Basil Grammaticos, Jarmo Hietarinta, Nalini Joshi, Decio Levi, Vassilis Papageorgiou, Junkichi Satsuma, Yuri Suris, Claude Vialet and Pavel Winternitz. The local organizing committee consisted of Pavel Winternitz, John Harnad, Véronique Hussin, Decio Levi, Peter Olver and Luc Vinet. Financial support came from the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques in Montreal and the National Science Foundation (through the University of Minnesota). Proceedings of the first three SIDE meetings were published in the LMS Lecture Note series. Since 2000 the emphasis has been on publishing selected refereed articles in response to a general call for papers issued after the conference. This allows for a wider author base, since the call for papers is not restricted to conference participants. The SIDE topics thus are represented in special issues of Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General 34 (48) and Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, 40 (42) (SIDE 4 and SIDE 7, respectively), Journal of Nonlinear Mathematical Physics 10 (Suppl. 2) and 12 (Suppl. 2) (SIDE 5 and SIDE 6 respectively). The SIDE 8 meeting was organized around several topics and the contributions to this special issue reflect the diversity presented during the meeting. The papers
