A differential evolution algorithm for solving Nash equilibrium in nonlinear continuous games is presented in this paper, called NIDE (Nikaido-Isoda differential evolution). At each generation, parent and child strategy profiles are compared one by one pairwisely, adapting Nikaido-Isoda function as fitness function. In practice, the NE of nonlinear game model with cubic cost function and quadratic demand function is solved, and this method could also be applied to non-concave payoff functions. Moreover, the NIDE is compared with the existing Nash Domination Evolutionary Multiplayer Optimization (NDEMO), the result showed that NIDE was significantly better than NDEMO with less iterations and shorter running time. These numerical examples suggested that the NIDE method is potentially useful. PMID:27589229

The objective of this article was to design, fabricate, and evaluate a novel type of glucose biosensors based on the use of atomic force microscopy to create nanoindented electrodes (NIDEs) for the selective detection of glucose. Atomic force microscopy nanoindentation techniques were extended to covalently immobilized glucose oxidase on NIDEs via composite hydrogel membranes composed of interpenetrating networks of inherently conductive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) tetramethacrylate grown within ultraviolet cross-linked hydroxyethylmethacrylate-based hydrogels to produce an in vitro amperometric NIDE biosensor for the long-term monitoring of glucose. The calibration curve for glucose was linear from 0.25 to 20 mM. Results showed that the NIDE glucose biosensor has a much higher detection sensitivity of 0.32 microA/mM and rapid response times (<5 seconds). There was no interference from the competing interferent (fructose) present; the only interference was from species that react with H(2)O(2) (ascorbic acid). The linear equation was B(response) (microA) = 0.323 [glucose] (mM) + 0.634 (microA); n = 24, r(2) = 0.994. Results showed that the resultant NIDE glucose biosensor increases the dynamic range, device sensitivity, and response time and has excellent detecting performance for glucose. system of nonlinear integro-differential equations (NIDE) with variable coefficients concerning a deflection w=w(x,y) and displacements u=u(x,y), v=v(x,y) was used for construction mathematical model of the problem. The Kichhoff-Love hypothesis was used as basis for description physical and geometrical relations and construction of a discrete model of nonlinear problems dynamic theory of viscoelasticity. The most effective variational Bubnov-Galerkin method was used for obtaining Volterra type system of NIDE. The integration of the obtained equations system was carried out with the help of the numerical method based on quadrature formula. The computer codes on algorithmic language Delphi were created for investigation amplitude-time, deflected mode and torque-time characteristic of vibrations of the viscoelastic shells. For real composite materials at wide ranges of change of physical-mechanical and geometrical parameters the behavior of shells were investigated. Calculations were carried out at different laws of change of thickness. Results will be presented as graphs and tables.

The Atlas Lingüístico y Etnográfico de Colombia (Linguistic and Ethnographic Atlas of Colombia), known by "ALEC" is a compilation of popular speaking Spanish of the populations of Colombia; such research was carried out for more than fifty years. The result of this work is a collection of thematic maps organized in six volumes and its supplements in analog format. In that sense was created the project entitles "Interactive ALEC" which main objective is to develop a digital and interactive web version of the ethnographic and Linguistic Atlas of Colombia (1983) and its supplements. In this way the Corpus linguistics research group belonging to the Institute Caro y Cuervo and the research group NIDE of the Universidad Distrital "Francisco José de Caldas" have been working together in the design and development of the Atlas Web, that allows the visualization and consulting of the spatial information contained in the volume III of the analog ALEC Atlas, applying concepts of Geographical Information Systems and web cartography. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to show the process of design and development of the web prototype of the ALEC as a collection of static and dynamic maps, which show spatial information, combined with multimedia content, taking into account that in addition to all maps, the total compendium includes images, illustrations, photographs, audio and text comments. Likewise, the interactive ALEC is a good example of how to use geo-technology tools nowadays, because they are essential for the dissemination of geo linguistic information through internet, achieving more access and distribution of the Atlas web.

  10. Summary report for the FY-2015 SACSESS Collaboration

    2015-09-01

During FY-2015, a collaborative research program was established by the Department of Energy-Nuclear Energy (DOE-NE) Material Recovery and Waste Form Development program and the European Union (EU) Safety of Actinide Separation Processes (SACSESS) program. One component of this collaboration was the evaluation of the radiolytic stability of a Selective ActiNide Extraction (SANEX) separation which utilized a TODGA-based organic solvent and an aqueous phase containing the hydrophilic complexing reagent, SO3-Ph-BTP. To best simulate process conditions, this experiment was irradiated in the radiolysis/hydrolysis test loop located at the Idaho National Laboratory. The effect of irradiation on a SACSESS program iSANEX formulation containingmore » a TODGA-based organic phase and a BTP-based aqueous phase was investigated using irradiations at INL in static and test loop modes. When irradiated in contact with only the acidic aqueous phase, the TODGA organic solution maintained excellent extraction performance of americium, cerium and europium to a maximum absorbed dose of nearly 0.9 MGy. When the aqueous phase was changed to that containing the aqueous soluble BTP, the irradiated aqueous phase showed a dramatic color change, but this does not appear to have adverse effects on solvent extraction performance. Only minor increases in distribution ratios for both the lanthanides and actinide were measured, and the separation factors were essentially unchanged to a maximum absorbed dose of 174 kGy. The determination of the americium, cerium, and europium distribution ratios for the remaining SACSESS test loop samples will be completed in the near future. The analysis of stable metals concentration in the the irradiated aqueous and organic phases will be completed shortly.« less

Studies carried out at BARC, India on the development of new extractants for reprocessing of spent fuel suggested that while straight chain N,N-dihexyloctanamide (DHOA) is promising alternative to TBP for the reprocessing of irradiated uranium based fuels, branched chain N,N-di(2-ethylhexyl)isobutyramide (D2EHIBA) is suitable for the selective recovery of 233U from irradiated Th. In advanced fuel cycle scenarios, the coprocessing of U/Pu stream appears attractive particularly with respect to development of proliferation resistant technologies. DHOA extracted Pu(IV) more efficiently than TBP, both at trace-level concentration as well as under uranium/plutonium loading conditions. Uranium extraction behavior of DHOA was however, similar to that of TBP during the extraction cycle. Stripping behavior of U and Pu (without any reductant) was better for DHOA than that of TBP. It was observed during batch studies that whereas 99% Pu is stripped in four stages in case of DHOA, only 89% Pu is stripped in case of TBP under identical experimental conditions. DHOA offered better fission product decontamination than that of TBP. GANEX (Group ActiNide EXtraction) and ARTIST (Amide-based Radio-resources Treatment with Interim Storage of Transuranics) processes proposed for actinide partitioning use branched chain amides for the selective extraction of uranium from spent fuel feed solutions. The branched-alkyl monoamide (BAMA) proposed to be used in ARTIST process is N,N-di-(2-ethylhexyl)butyramide (D2EHBA). In this context, the extraction behavior of U(VI) and Pu(IV) were compared using D2EHIBA, TBP, and D2EHBA under similar concentration of nitric acid (0.5 — 6M) and of uranium (0-50g/L). These studies suggested that D2EHIBA is a promising extractant for selective extraction of uranium over plutonium in process streams. Similarly, D2EHIBA offered distinctly better decontamination of 233U over Th and fission products under THOREX feed conditions. The possibility of simultaneous

fractures; the degree of albitization-hematisation progressively increases towards the top affecting the whole rock, which acquires a characteristic pink color. Finally, the top of the profile is formed by strongly altered to hematite and kaolinite rich reddish facies. These uppermost parts of the alteration profile are formed by a relatively soft rock and are therefore usually not preserved, but the intermediate albitized parts are more resistant to surface alteration than unaltered facies and protect the peneplain from weathering and erosion. The albitization-hematisation alterations observed in the Montseny-Guilleries peneplain are very similar to the Permian-Triassic paleoalteration profiles observed in other parts of Europe, affecting the Variscan basement [Ricordel et al., 2007; Parcerisa et al., 2009]. Dating these profiles using paleomagnetic methods will help us to identify the location of the Permian-Triassic surface in the area and deduce its geodynamic history during the Mesozoic and Tertiary periods.
