Projections of car-buying behavior over a 10-year period (1976-1985) were made and results presented in the form of 10-year average values of the percent difference between results under 'With Title II' and 'Without Title II' information.« less

This report, in fulfillment of a license requirement, presents the results of long-term surveillance and maintenance activities conducted by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Legacy Management in 2013 at six uranium mill tailings disposal sites reclaimed under Title II of the Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act (UMTRCA) of 1978. These activities verified that the UMTRCA Title II disposal sites remain in compliance with license requirements. DOE manages six UMTRCA Title II disposal sites under a general license granted by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) established at Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 40.28. Reclamationmore » and site transition activities continue at other sites, and DOE ultimately expects to manage approximately 27 Title II disposal sites. Long-term surveillance and maintenance activities and services for these disposal sites include inspecting and maintaining the sites; monitoring environmental media and institutional controls; conducting any necessary corrective action; and performing administrative, records, stakeholder services, and other regulatory functions. Annual site inspections and monitoring are conducted in accordance with site-specific long-term surveillance plans (LTSPs) and procedures established by DOE to comply with license requirements. Each site inspection is performed to verify the integrity of visible features at the site; to identify changes or new conditions that may affect the long-term performance of the site; and to determine the need, if any, for maintenance, follow-up inspections, or corrective action. LTSPs and site compliance reports are available online at http://www.lm.doe.gov« less

...The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (``EEOC'' or ``Commission'') is issuing a final rule to implement Title II of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (``GINA''). Congress enacted Title II of GINA to protect job applicants, current and former employees, labor union members, and apprentices and trainees from discrimination based on their genetic information. Title II of GINA requires the EEOC to issue implementing regulations. The Commission issued a proposed rule in the Federal Register on March 2, 2009, for a sixty-day notice and comment period that ended on May 1, 2009. After consideration of the public comments, the Commission has revised portions of both the final rule and the preamble.

Bis[2-(hy-droxy-imino-meth-yl)phenolato]nickel(II): a second monoclinic polymorph.
Rusanova, Julia A; Buvaylo, Elena A; Rusanov, Eduard B
2011-01-15
The title compound, [Ni(C(7)H(6)NO(2))(2)], (I), is a second monoclinic polymorph of the compound, (II), reported by Srivastava et al. [Acta Cryst. (1967), 22, 922] and Mereiter [Private communication (2002) CCDC refcode NISALO01]. The bond lengths and angles are similar in both structures. The mol-ecule in both structures lies on a crystallographic inversion center and both have an inter-nal hydrogen bond. The title compound crystallizes in the space group P2(1)/c (Z = 2), whereas compound (II) is in the space group P2(1)/n (Z = 2) with a similar cell volume but different cell parameters. In both polymorphs, mol-ecules are arranged in the layers but in contrast to the previously published compound (II) where the dihedral angle between the layers is 86.3°, in the title polymorph the same dihedral angle is 29.4°. The structure of (I) is stabilized by strong intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the O-H group and the phenolate O atom.

The research provides an overview of the health care management literature and the indexing coverage of core journal literature. Citations from five source journals for the years 2002 through 2004 were studied using the protocols of the Mapping the Literature of Allied Health Project and Mapping the Literature of Nursing Project. The productivity of cited journals was analyzed by applying Bradford's Law of Scattering. Journals were the most frequently cited format, followed by books. Only 3.2% of the cited journal titles from all 5 source journals generated two-thirds of the cited titles. When only the health care management practitioner-oriented source journals were considered, two-thirds of the output of cited journal titles came from 10.8% of the titles. Science Citation Index and PubMed provided the best overall coverage of the titles cited by all 5 source journals, while the cited titles from the 2 practitioner-oriented journals were covered most completely by Social Sciences Citation Index and Business Source Complete. Health care management is a multidisciplinary field. Librarians must consider the needs of their users and assist them by providing the necessary materials and combination of indexes to access this field adequately.

Mononuclear copper(II) complex of tetra-dentate o-aminophenol-based ligand (H2LBAPP) has been synthesized and characterized. The three dentate precursor (HLBAP) of the final ligand was synthesized first, while the title four-dentate copper bound ligand was synthesized in situ, isolated only in the final copper species [CuLBAPP]. This copper coordination complex reveals a distorted square-planar geometry around the copper(II) centre by one oxygen and three nitrogen atoms from the coordinating ligand. The ligand is thus twice deprotonated via hydroxy and amine groups. The complex is red, non-typical for copper(II), but the effective magnetic moment of 1.86 B M. and a single isotropic symmetry EPR signal with g 2.059 confirm a S = 1/2 diluted spin system, without copper-copper magnetic coupling. Electrochemical oxidation of this complex yields the corresponding Cu(II)-phenyl radical species. Finally, the title complex CuLBAPP has shown good and selective catalytic activity towards alcohol to aldehyde oxidation, at aerobic room temperature conditions, for a set of different alcohols.

To investigate second order nonlinear optical properties of the title compound, the electric dipole (μ), linear polarizability (α) and first-order hyperpolarizability (β) were computed using the density functional B3LYP and CAM-B3LYP methods with the 6-31+G(d) basis set. According to our calculations, the title compound exhibits nonzero (β) value revealing second order NLO behavior. In addition, DFT calculations of the title compound, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), frontier molecular orbitals, and thermodynamic properties were performed at B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) level of theory.

2011-01-01
Japan-US cooperation program TITAN (Tritium, Irradiation and Thermofluid for America and Nippon) started in April 2007 as 6-year project. This is the summary report at the midterm of the project. Historical overview of the Japan-US cooperation programs and direction of the TITAN project in its second half are presented in addition to the technical highlights. Blankets are component systems whose principal functions are extraction of heat and tritium. Thus it is crucial to clarify the potentiality for controlling heat and tritium flow throughout the first wall, blanket and out-of-vessel recovery systems. The TITAN project continues the JUPITER-II activity but extendsmore » its scope including the first wall and the recovery systems with the title of 'Tritium and thermofluid control for magnetic and inertial confinement systems'. The objective of the program is to clarify the mechanisms of tritium and heat transfer throughout the first-wall, the blanket and the heat/tritium recovery systems under specific conditions to fusion such as irradiation, high heat flux, circulation and high magnetic fields. Based on integrated models, the breeding, transfer, inventory of tritium and heat extraction properties will be evaluated for some representative liquid breeder blankets and the necessary database will be obtained for focused research in the future.« less

The title complex, trans-bis(dimethylformamide-κO)bis{N,N'-N'',N'''-tetra-tert-butyl[oxybis(phosphonic diamide-κO)]}manganese(II) dichloride dihydrate, [Mn(C16H40N4O3P2)2(C3H7NO)2]Cl2·2H2O, is the first example of a bis-chelate amido-pyrophosphate (pyrophosphoramide) complex containing an O[P(O)(NH)2]2 fragment. Its asymmetric unit contains half of the complex dication, one chloride anion and one water molecule. The Mn(II) atom, located on an inversion centre, is octahedrally coordinated, with a slight elongation towards the monodentate dimethylformamide ligand. Structural features of the title complex, such as the P=O bond lengths and the planarity of the chelate ring, are compared with those of previously reported complexes with six-membered chelates involving the fragments C(O)NHP(O), (X)NP(O) [X = C(O), C(S), S(O)2 and P(O)] and O[P(O)(N)2]2. This analysis shows that the six-membered chelate rings are less puckered in pyrophosphoramide complexes containing a P(O)OP(O) skeleton, such as the title compound. The extended structure of the title complex involves a linear aggregate mediated by N-H...O and N-H...Cl hydrogen bonds, in which the chloride anion is an acceptor in two additional O-H...Cl hydrogen bonds.

This document contains interim regulations implementing the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 called ("FMLA" or "the Act"). The Act is effective on August 5, 1993, six months from the date of its enactment. Where a collective bargaining agreement is in effect on August 5, 1993, the Act is effective when the collective bargaining agreement terminates or February 5, 1994, whichever is earlier. The purpose of these regulations is to set forth the requirements of Title I and Title IV of the Act. Title I applies to covered private employers and public agencies (except for most of the Federal Government, which is governed by Title II). Title IV of the Act primarily concerns the relationship between FMLA and other laws, as well as collective bargaining agreements and other employer plans and programs.

Orotic acid (vitamin B 13) is a key intermediate in biosynthesis of the pyrimidine nucleotides in living organisms, moreover, it may serve as the biological carrier for some metal ions. cis-Diammine(orotato)platinum(II), cis-[Pt(C 5H 2N 2O 4)(NH 3) 2] can be considered as a new potential cisplatin analogue. The FT-Raman and FT-IR spectra of the title complex are reported, for the first time. The molecular structure, vibrational frequencies, and the theoretical infrared and Raman intensities have been calculated by the density functional mPW1PW91 method. The detailed vibrational assignment has been made on the basis of the calculated potential energy distribution. The theoretically predicted IR and Raman spectra show very good agreement with experiment. Natural bond orbital (NBO) analyses were performed for cisplatin, carboplatin and the title complex. The results provided new data on the nature of platinum-ligand bonding in these compounds. Strong intramolecular hydrogen bond between the orotate ligand and the coordinated ammonia group stabilizes the structure of the platinum(II) complex. Thus, it is suggested that the orotate ligand in the title complex is more inert to the substitution reactions than the chloride ligands in cisplatin.

The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation’s only approved repository for the disposal of defense related/defense generated transuranic (TRU) and mixed hazardous TRU waste (henceforth called TRU waste). The mission of the WIPP Project is to realize the safe disposal of TRU waste from TRU waste generator sites in the Department of Energy waste complex. The WIPP Project was authorized by Title II, Section 213(a) of Public Law 96-164 (U. S. Congress 1979). Congress designated the WIPP facility “for the express purpose of providing a research and development facility to demonstrate the safe disposal of radioactive wastes resultingmore » from the defense activities and programs of the United States exempted from regulation by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).” The WIPP facility is operated by the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE). Transuranic waste that is disposed in the WIPP facility is defined by Section 2(18) the WIPP Land Withdrawal Act of 1992 (LWA) (U. S. Congress, 1992) as: “waste containing more than 100 nanocuries of alpha-emitting transuranic isotopes per gram of waste, with half-lives greater than 20 years, except for: (A) high-level radioactive waste; (B) waste that the Secretary has determined, with the concurrence of the Administrator, does not need the degree of isolation required by the disposal regulations; or (C) waste that the NRC has approved for disposal on a case-by-case basis in accordance with part 61 of title 10, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).« less
