    Kenneth Thomas will discuss the Apollo Intra-Extra Vehicular Activity (IEVA) spacesuits, which supported launch and reentry and extra-vehicular activity. This program was NASA's first attempt to develop a new suit design from requirements and concepts. Mr. Thomas will chronicle the challenges, developments, struggles, and solutions that culminated in the system that allowed the first human exploration of the Moon and deep space (outside low-Earth orbit). Apollo pressure suit designs allowed the heroic repair of the Skylab space station and supported the first U.S. and Russian spacecraft docking during the Apollo Soyuz Test Project. Mr. Thomas will also discuss the IEVA suits' successes and challenges associated with the IEVA developments of the 1960s.

While the United States and Russia adapted to existing launch- and reentry-type suits to allow the first human ventures into the vacuum of space, there were differences in execution and capabilities.   6. Spectral characterization of V-type asteroids: are all the basaltic objects coming from Vesta?

    In the last twenty-five years several small basaltic V-type asteroids have been identified all around the main belt. Most of them are members of the Vesta dynamical family, but an increasingly large number appear to have no link with it. The question that arises is whether all these basaltic objects do indeed come from Vesta. In the light of the Dawn mission, who visited Vesta in 2011-2012, recent works were dedicated to the observation of several new V-type asteroids and their comparison with laboratory data (Fulvio et al., \\cite{Fulvio2015}), and to a statistical analysis of the spectroscopic and mineralogical properties of the largest sample of V-types ever collected (Ieva et al., \\cite{Ieva2015}, with the objective to highlight similarities and differences among objects belonging and not belonging to the Vesta dynamical family. Laboratory experiments support the idea that V-type NEAs spectral properties could be due to a balance of space weathering and rejuvenation processes triggered by close encounters with terrestrial planets. Statistical analysis shows that although most of the V-type asteroids in the inner main belt do have a surface composition compatible with Vesta family members, this seem not to be the case for V-types in the middle and outer main belt. For these Middle and Outer V-types (MOVs), their sizes, spectral parameters and location far away from the Vesta dynamical region point to a different origin than Vesta.

    To analyze audiometric outcomes after bilateral cochlear implantation in patients with isolated enlarged vestibular aqueduct (EVA) syndrome and associated incomplete partition (IP) malformations. Secondary objective was to analyze rate of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) gusher in patients with IP-EVA spectrum deformities and compare this with the existing literature. Retrospective chart review. Thirty-two patients with EVA syndrome who received unilateral or bilateral cochlear implants between June 1999 and January 2014 were identified in the University Hospitals Case Medical Center cochlear implant database. Isolated EVA (IEVA) and Incomplete Partition Type II (IP-II) malformations were identified by reviewing high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) imaging. Demographic information, age at implantation, surgical details, postimplantation audiometric data including speech reception thresholds (SRT), word, and sentence scores were reviewed and analyzed. Intra- and postoperative complications were analyzed as well and compared with the literature. Seventeen patients (32 implanted ears) had pediatric cochlear implantation for EVA-associated hearing loss. Data from 16 controls (32 implanted ears) were used to compare audiometric and speech outcomes of EVA cohort. Mean age at implantation was 6.8 years for EVA cohort and 6.0 years for controls. There was no statistically significant difference in long-term postoperative SRT, monaurally aided word scores, and binaurally tested word scores between pediatric EVA group and controls. The EVA patients had a long-term mean sentence score of 85.92%. A subset of EVA patients implanted at mean age of 3.18 years (n = 15 ears) had similar audiometric outcomes to another control group with Connexin 26 mutations (n = 20 ears) implanted at a similar age.
